Kumble's 'Eerily Precise' Prediction to Gaurav Kalra for Ind vs Aus Series is Driving Cricket Fans Nuts
Former cricketer Anil Kumble had rightly predicted the result of Border-Gavaskar even before the series between India and Australia began.

Former Indian cricketer and coach Anil Kumble is being called the 'Paul the Octopus' on social media and we couldn't agree more.
The Indian cricket team, led by Virat Kohli, scripted history on Monday after the visitors became the first team from Asia to win a Test series in Australia.
The historic 2-1 Test victory over Australia was celebrated by Team India, who broke into the "Pujara dance" on the Sydney Cricket Ground in front of their fans.
Meanwhile, captain Kohli took a 'victory walk' with wife and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma around the stadium to celebrate the thumping win.
But even before Team India lifted the coveted Border-Gavaskar trophy, India's former legend and leg-spinner Anil Kumble had predicted the results of the series in an exclusive interaction with CricketNext back in November. Hard to believe, right?
In an interview with Gaurav Kalra, dated November 26, 2018, Kumble was asked to make his prediction for the series.
Here's how he responded.
GK: Ok! So, let me put you into a spot. Make a series prediction for us, Anil?
AK: Oh! India should win 2-1.
GK: You see a draw somewhere?
AK: Somewhere, there is so much of rain around. Maybe rain will play a part.
Not only did Kumble get his prediction right, but he also spoke a lot about the rain, which eventually washed out the final Test in Sydney, resulting in a draw.
After the 2-1 win, Kalra took to Twitter to share the "eerily precise" prediction by Kumble.
"Before the series began, we asked @anilkumble1074 for his series scoreline prediction on @cricketnext - wonder what we should use his powers for next!," he wrote.
As for the Twitterati, everyone was all praises for Jumbo's "magical powers."

Knowing the analytical brain of @anilkumble1074 I wouldn't be surprised if he used #DataScience to arrive at this conclusion in which case it wouldn't be a "prediction" but rather math 😊 #INDvAUS https://t.co/DqyhI9FNkF— Ninad Chhaya (@NinadChhaya) January 7, 2019
Some other important questions also came up.
So now ask him who is going to win world cup this year???— sourav_gupta (@sourav_gupta997) January 7, 2019
And other predictions made by former Australian captain Ricky Ponting were dismissed.
Before the start of this series #AusvInd #AusvsIndRicky Ponting had predicted.. “Usman Khawaja will just pip Kohli”- But Kohli made 282 runs to Usman Khawaja's 198 runs"Australia will win series 2-1" - But India won 2-1— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) January 7, 2019
Third test at Melbourne, Ponting: Pujara's slow batting could cost India the MatchIndia won the Melbourne Test by 137 runs.— Nandini Seth (@sethnandini) January 7, 2019
