In a funny tweet posted on Tuesday, the minister shared a photo of his pug Eddie, who was his travel partner during his recent Rajdhani trip - in an attempt that the network would follow the dog.
"I took my Puggie Eddie with me on Rajdhani hoping Vodafone network wud follow him though the journey - afterAll he is their Brand Ambassador that’s what they claim in their commercials !![sic]," Supriyo posted on Twitter.
The minister was making a reference to the now iconic "You & I" advertising campaign that featured Cheeka the pug, which followed an eight-year-old boy wherever he went. Cheeka eventually became the face of Hutch/Vodafone in India and "Wherever you go, our network follows," later became synonymous with the campaign, and brand identity.
Even though Supriyo's 'trick' didn't fall into place, the Twitterati didn't complain.

... It seems u’ve misunderstood d ad. They claim-“where ever YOU go,he will follow..” And it does.. He was with u,throughout d journey..— Sudipa Chatterjee (@sudiparannaghor) November 27, 2018

Babul Sir, Vodafone's network was present on the train following your Rajdhani. Vodafone's network always claimed to follow you but never claimed to be with you.— Rightster™ ® © (@TheRightster) November 27, 2018
