Belgian photographer hospitalized after plane dumps 400 gallons of water on him as part of the Ice Bucket Challenge

Brokken's condition was initially said to be critical after a plane dropped the load on his head.

A Belgian photographer fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital after a firefighting plane dumped 400 gallons of water on him as part of his ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Bruno Brokken, 51, from Catalonia in Spain was lucky to be alive after his stunt went horribly wrong, according to various media reports.

The Telegraph reported that the stunt was set up at the Empuriabrava Aerodrome outside Girona in northeastern Spain, where Brokken is a member of a skydiving club.

Brokken's condition was initially said to be critical after a plane dropped the water on his head from a distance of only 22 feet.

The Ice Bucket Challenge campaign raises money for a severe form of a motor neuron disease.
