Gautam Gambhir's fans are leaving no stones unturned to get one last glimpse of the batsman in action, even if it comes at a price of interrupting the cricket match.

Instrumental in India's 2011 World Cup triumph, veteran cricketer Gautam Gambhir couldn't have asked for more when he took the crease one last time before bidding adieu to competitive cricket.

In a successful Ranji outing, Delhi's Gambhir completed his 43rd First-class century against Andhra Pradesh off 163 balls, eventually scoring 112 off 185 balls before getting caught behind off Shoaib Khan.

Before the veteran completed his century, a young fan breached security protocols and ran into Kotla pitch, touched the batsman's feet and even managed to click a selfie with him.

The incident was caught on tape and later made its way to Twitter and Reddit.

Redditors too chimed in with their takes on the striking photograph.

"Top 10 images taken just before disaster."

"A spectator running onto the pitch mid-game for a selfie with Gautam Gambhir playing his last match. And a security guard moments away from inflicting brain damage."

"Plot twist: The security personnel was just jogging all the way to the other side occasionally stretching his arms in the process. Just a sudden warmup to break the boredom."

"Plot Twist: The guard was just giving his best anime swordfight pose for the photographer. The batsman approved."

"This could totally be the next viral meme template."

Same time, last year, a Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh had to be stopped briefly after a man drove his car onto the pitch at the Air Force Sports Complex in Palam in New Delhi.

Playing his 76th match and final Ranji Trophy game, Gambhir has accumulated over 6,200 runs to his name at an average of over 54 in the First-class cricket.
