Businessman Harsh Goenka has come under fire on social media after he shared the photograph of a woman carrying lights in a wedding procession while her child hangs by her shoulder wrapped in a cloth. The woman is seen carrying lights on her head while her baby hangs by her shoulder as she walks in a wedding procession. Goenka, the chairman of RPG Group, faced criticisim as several netizens said he was romanticising poverty that compelled the woman to work in such situation. Actor Simi Garewal too faced some backlash as she responded to the post and wrote of the spirit of mothers. “And she is carrying her baby in her jholi..! #Mothers (sic),” she wrote.
I feel like I put in too much effort sometimes. And then I saw this photo! My salute! pic.twitter.com/i8vUbLybB6

The image clearly left the Internet divided, While one side applauded the exemplary courage and spirit of mothers, others slammed Goenka for romanticising poverty that compelled the women to work under such circumstances. Take a look at some of the comments.

Instead of saluting her courage we should feel shame that she has to go through all this hardships.

Pathology of Indian modernity!Shame on Mr Goenka. You are trying to find aesthetics in the misery. This picture shows whatever is wrong with nepotistic capitalism. Can you imagine the reactions of @JeffBezos @BillGates @elonmusk or @MikeBloomberg after seeing the sad image?

It's very sad picture…

Just goes to show what an inhospitable country our nation truly is for its own people. How great the divide is between the haves and the have-nots. Nothing to salute in this photo. Only something to feel sorry for

We must stop glorifying our own failures again and again. From migrants walking and cycling hundreds kms to justifying this really unsafe carrying of child and our own inabilities to create conducive surroundings for new mothers… Shame I would say.
