After being hurled from one set of controversy to another for a long time, Rajnikanth’s Kaala has finally descended upon the theatres worldwide.

As expected, fans all over have erupted in joy, pouring out to the streets and theatres in celebration. Admirers celebrated the release of the film by dancing to the beat of drums, hoisting flags and painting Rajnikanth’s portrait on their chests, with some even aping his look in the film. Meanwhile, women thronged local temples before going to the theatre in order to express their devotion to the actor.

The superstar starrer, characterized essentially as a ‘gangster’ film, finds its tone in the backdrop of Mumbai’s Dharavi.

The cast of uncertainty over the release of this film was because of Rajnikanth’s pro- Tamil Nadu stance on the years-old festering Cauvery dispute.

Rajinikanth, who announced his entry to politics in December last year, had asked Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy to release water for Tamil Nadu as mandated by the Supreme Court. While the release has been facing massive protests in Karnataka and the official verdict about the film by critics is due; fervent fans have seized the world of Twitter, writing reviews, comments and declaring it as a super-hit already.

There's clearly no stopping the fans even with all the politics around the movie.

If parading in a spectacle of celebration across the streets wasn’t enough, fans have also started using art as a medium to express this devotion and love for the superstar.

Interestingly, artists around the country, through portraits, posters and paintings are iconizing Rajnikanth’s cinematic comeback.
