Bhangra at the Border: Indian and Chinese Armies Face Off On the Playing Field and Dance Floor
The Indian and Chinese Armies met for a series of wars games at the 7th Sino-India joint exercise Hand-in-Hand 2018 at Chengdu in China, which ended up what being what practically amounted to a love fest.
Despite the recent tensions between the two countries over the Doklam corridor crisis and other Chinese excursions into Indian-held territories, soldiers and officers from two of the largest military forces in the world came together in a rare display of amity and mutual respect.
In between the obstacle courses and field maneuvers, there was dancing and music, with fancy footwork extending to the football field where teams from both sides played a friendly match.
Indian soldiers also attempted to teach their Chinese counterparts the basics of Bhangra and the Indian Army's official Twitter handle shared videos of that and other instances of the troops playing nice, which made for a pleasant change.
