While cleanliness is always a good habit, this ad does have a rather threatening undertone to it

If at all anyone had forgotten about our Prime Minister's cleanliness campaign Swachh Bharat, this new video is sure to jog your memory and make it stick for a while!

As children we were taught that 'cleanliness is next to godliness' and that is perhaps, a lesson that we have happily managed to ignore. But Swachh Bharat's new ad talks about which divine entity that old adage refers to.

Starring Kangana Ranaut as Goddess Laxmi, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, this new ad campaign called Don't Let Her Go acts as a corollary to the old saying, as it depicts the Goddess leaving those who don't strive to maintain cleanliness.

And while cleanliness is always a good habit, this ad does have a rather threatening undertone to it. Clearly, if we don't keep clean, we'll lose our wealth and prosperity. The accompanying text on the YouTube video says "An important lesson on why keeping our country clean should a personal goal." Unfortunately, this sounds like a parent threatening to take away the child's toys if they don't receive better marks in their papers.

One might argue that the Goddess Laxmi arriving at the doorsteps of those who maintained cleanliness may have created a more positive image, but the again, we are a nation of stubborn people who probably won't learn valuable lesson unless given an ultimatum.

The ad features other famous faces like Isha Koppikar, Omkar Kapoor, and Ravi Kishan and has been narrated by none other than the legendary Amitabh Bachchan. With a starcast this huge and a message this scary, this is one ad that will definitely stick out!
