A pop-up food joint in London taught a life lesson to a social media influencer who tried to get the undue advantage of his profession. They played a hilarious prank on the guy by luring him in to pick up the meal from the restaurant, but then directing him to a nearby police station for ‘crimes against the hospitality industry’. The eatery named Four Legs has shared a series of screengrabs of their chat on Instagram that has left everyone in splits. The influencer named Christopher Jesse Okon claimed to have over 50,000 followers asked the eatery for several takeaway meals in exchange for advertising them on his social media. He said he will also put a swipe up link to direct his followers to their website. The chefs agreed for the same and told him to collect the food from Tolpuddle Street in Islington. Thinking that he had managed to pull free meals, the influencer immediately agreed to pick up the parcels from the provided address. Later, the chefs directed him to a nearby police station and asked him to report himself for ‘crimes against the hospitality industry’.
The post made netizens burst into laughter. It has now gone viral internet and garnered over 34,000 likes and tons of comments. A user commented, “The fact that you made him walk there, I wish I could have seen his reaction via cctv”, another user wrote, “Love this!!! Thanks for exposing, absolutely disgusting behaviour”.
The influencer also reached out to the comment section and wrote that he wanted to provide the eatery with exposure on his platform he did not force them to give him a meal. He further wrote that if they did not want to provide him with the meal they could have simply denied it. He also slammed the restaurant for sharing the chat on social media and insulting him in public.
The covid-19 pandemic has hit the hospitality industry especially hard and the employees have faced a lot of suffering. In times when they are already facing a financial crunch asking for a free meal is not the best idea. Many eateries have also expressed their grief over the same on the Four Legs’ post.
