Britain’s Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who steppe down as Royals owing to a barrage of internal matters that was recently revealed in an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey are being trolled online for having the logo of their charitable organisation copied from an Austrian property firm. The non-profit organisation named Archewell was opened in the US in April 2020 and named after their son Archie. However, the logo of the firm representing ‘AW’ looks very similar to the Austrian company Am Werdertor project’s emblem design.
Talking to Daily Mail, Dmitry Pryanishnikov, chief executive of Am Werdertor’s parent company Allea Group, said that ‘Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery’. Dmitry also clarified that even though the logo is very similar, they won’t take any action and offence because ‘the subject projects are very much different by their nature’, reports Daily Mail.
A marketing expert after spotting the extraordinary similarity between the emblems was amazed at how Archewell’s design team didn’t spot the resemblance before launching their own version. “There seems to be no diligent research and effort done in creating unique branding and a creative logo for Archewell," she said.
Netizens soo took to Twitter to point out how the Austrian group could very well end up using their company.
Who wore it best Am Werdertor or Archewell?#logodesign #copycat #MeghanAndHarry pic.twitter.com/ViZWTXtuvT— Harry goes to Hollywood (@harryandmegxit) March 17, 2021
I think Am Werdertor would have a good lawsuit case against Archewell. Stealing their logo. My understanding you can’t have a logo that is very similar to an already established logo.— Karen Cox Callahan - Teams Trump and Cambridge (@K_L_Cox) March 17, 2021
Crikey. Is absolutely nothing with them original?— Cafkin (@cafkin) March 17, 2021
OMG blatant copying! Again!— suelly (@suellenplace) March 17, 2021
Don’t tell me they can’t even afford a logo designer???? ♀️— ABRatna (@ABRatna1) March 17, 2021
The logo fo Archewell is supposedly to ‘encourage, ‘community, service, compassion and action’.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got the world hooked to their tv screens and the Internet on Monday with their tell-all, sensational interview with American talk show host Oprah Winfrey that shed light on what it was like for them to be part of Britain’s Royal family. While Markle had a no-holds-barrier approach and touched on topics from race to mental health, Harry revealed that he was able to financially cut himself off from the British royal family only because his late mother Princess Diana left him an inheritance. Further, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said that they were currently living off the money Diana left Harry after being forced to step back financially from royal life after they decided to quit and move to the United States.
