Kabir Khan missed a simple penalty goal against Pakistan in Chak De! India and became a subject of ridicule amongst fans and spectators.

It's the same thing that happened when Newcastle's Matt Ritchie failed to convert an open goal opportunity during the Monday Night Football clash against Burnley, after which he was brutally trolled.

Fortunately for him and his team, Newcastle United, the visitors registered their third successive win and first victory at Turf Moor in over 40 years as they beat Burnley 2-1.

Federico Fernandez's fourth minute shot, which took a huge deflection off Ben Mee, gave Rafael Benitez's Newcastle an early lead before the visitors doubled their lead through Ciaran Clark in the 23rd minute.

Burnley pulled a goal back courtesy of Sam Vokes's header five minutes before half-time.

Newcastle saw a chance to extend their lead to 3-1 in the 50th minute when Ritchie sliced a side-footed shot into the netting, missing an "unmissable" opportunity as the goal post stood unguarded.

Fans at the stadium, and at home, watched the miss in disbelief and took to Twitter to express their displeasure.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the 29-year-old said, "I honestly don’t know. I thought I had scored, to be honest."

"I was probably celebrating before I put it in the net. Hopefully, it doesn’t make Premier League misses," he added.
