Elon Musk shared an Ed Klien advertisement which listed the benefits of a horse over an auto car and highlighted how a horse is inexpensive to maintain, can tackle a wide variety of terrain, and requires no 'storage' or parking charges.

It seems electric car company Tesla’s owner Elon Musk is endorsing another self-driving vehicle from the bygone era. The 49-year-old billionaire businessman took to his Twitter handle on Wednesday to share an old advertisement of horses as a better mode of transportation than cars.

The Ed Klien advertisement listed the benefits of a horse over an auto car and highlighted how a horse is inexpensive to maintain, can tackle a wide variety of terrain, and requires no ‘storage’ or parking charges. In a bid to attract potential customers to buy the horse rather than a new car, the advertisement also mentions how a horse would not depreciate in value even after two years unlike a new car. It further mentioned that a horse can take the owner through snow and mud as well as good roads. Taking a jibe at the car industry, the advertisement also mentioned that a horse’s carburettor will never be out of order.

Elon’s tweet has garnered over 110.3k likes and 10.2k retweets since it was shared on the microblogging site. Elon’s followers have reacted to the tweet with their own take on the advertisement. One of the users commented about how horses are indeed a better option in terms of curbing greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles since horses would produce organic fertilizer as compared to all the carbon dioxide one Hellcat would release.

While one user took a hilarious dig at the tweet and wrote how horses are even Self-driving, Self-charging, Self-navigating, Self-repairing, all-terrain vehicles. Looking at Elon’s past tweets endorsing cryptocurrency like dogecoin, Signal messaging app in place of WhatsApp, some users wondered if “stonks” of horses would also observe a sharp rise after his recent tweet.

However, this is not the first time Elon has talked about horses and automobiles. Back in 2017, when the business tycoon was the guest in a keynote conversation during the National Governors Association Summer Meeting, he spoke about the future of autonomous vehicles in automakers’ production lines. He compared having non-autonomous cars to having a horse. Musk had mentioned that people have horses, which is cool, and there will be people who have non-autonomous cars like people have horses he explained. Musk predicted the future of non-autonomous cars as being unusual to use as a mode of transport, just like how horses became unusual.
