As Pakistan witnesses protest against the brutal rape and murder of a 7-year-old, a news anchor in the country took a bold step and went ahead to host her show along with her little daughter sitting on her lap.

According to a video tweeted by journalist Omar R. Quraishi, Pakistan TV anchor Kiran Naz can be seen sitting with her daughter and talking about the barbaric rape and murder of a young girl from Pakistan's Kasur district. The 7-year-old's dead body was found in a rubbish dump on Tuesday.

In the video, that has garnered worldwide support, Naz can be heard saying, "Today I am not your host Kiran Naz, today I am a mother and that is why I am sitting here with my daughter."

"It is rightly said that smaller the corpse, the heavier it feels. Today, Pakistan is under the same burden as a tiny corpse is lying on the streets of Kasur. This day marks the funeral of humanity," she further said.

According to a CCTV footage, Ansari was last seen walking with a man, right before she went missing last week. The deceased was reportedly staying with her relatives while her parents had gone to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

It was the twelfth incident of a girl being abducted, raped, and killed in the past year in Kasur district, police say. Residents have been furious at the authorities for what they see as a failure to investigate such cases.
