Pat Cummins’ Ridiculous Athleticism to Get Pujara Run-Out in Adelaide Test is Almost Poetic
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It is Pat Cummins!

After bowling 19 overs on a scorching day at the Adelaide Oval and uprooting two Indian wickets, one being King Kohli's, Aussie fast-bowler Pat Cummins couldn't have asked for more action on Day 1 of the opening Test against India. Yet, he produced one of the finest run-outs one has witnessed in the game of cricket, at the last minute of the day's play.
Even as KL Rahul, Murali Vijay, Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane departed cheaply, Chesteshwar Pujara stood his ground and accumulated a crucial 123 runs out of India's 250 in the first innings.
Batting with a tail-ender, Pujara looked to keep strike on Day 2, when he decided to clinch a tight single on the very last delivery of Day 1. His attempt, however, was marred by an alert Pat Cummins.
With just one stump in sight, Cummins dived full-length to his right, grabbing the ball and immediately releasing it in one motion, thereby dislodging the bails before Pujara could reach the other end.
All this happened in a matter of seconds and his heroics were caught on tape and spread widely. Many called him a superman, while others just watched the video in utter disbelief.
There was nothing but praise for the Aussie pacer online.
40 degrees. 19 overs of bringing his own heat. This is what he gives the team. 5.56pm. Could have been snoozing. When you talk about playing ‘tough cricket’, play this clip. Inspirational @patcummins30 https://t.co/4I7MT6k0bQ— Ed Cowan (@eddiecowan) December 6, 2018
This cricket play was lit as hell so I wrote about how the cricket boy who did the good cricket deserves to be on an MLB roster right now.pic.twitter.com/NdrQpsMHOb— Cespedes Family BBQ (@CespedesBBQ) December 6, 2018
Unreal athleticism 👏 https://t.co/XDfZlhYN4C— Simon Mitchell (@_SimonMitchell) December 6, 2018
For some context, Pat Cummins nailed one of the great side-on run-outs at the very end of a 39-degree day on which he had bowled 19 overs. Just an incredible piece of work. https://t.co/vw0CgWWMrl— Brydon Coverdale (@brydoncoverdale) December 6, 2018
His run-out was so impressive, even baseball fans took notice.
According to news.com.au, MLB website ran a story calling a new team in America and making Cummins play baseball.
The story was titled: “This cricket play was so insane an MLB team should sign this guy right now.”
