An artist used a series of shocking Disney posters to raise awareness about minors who have been subjected to sexual abuse by a family member. The Princest Diaries posters show the most famous Disney princesses - Sleeping Beauty, Ariel and Jasmine being kissed by their fathers.
"The aim of the poster series is to encourage victims to report their cases in order for the authorities to prevent it from happening again," a description on the website hosting these images read.
Sleeping Beauty is seen in an embrace with her father King Stefan and the same theme is repeated for Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Jasmine from Aladdin. The posters read: "46 per cent of minors who are raped are the victims of family members. It's never too late to report your attack."
The Independent quoted Saint Hoax, an anonymous artist based in the Middle East, as saying that he drew the images to reach girls who may have been incest victims.
He told The Independent he was inspired to start the project when one of his closest friends told him she was molested by her father at just seven years old. "It took her 14 years to be able to share that traumatising experience," he added. "That story shock me to my core."
