If you own a smartphone, you must be bombarded with push notifications that leave an annoying red badge on your apps. The anxiety to get rid of these notifications makes most of us open apps immediately only to kill those annoying little red circles.

But one notification badge that *really* gets under the skin is the number of unread email icon permanently* stamped on the Mail app.

The biggest star of Bollywood and the Unicef ambassador Priyanka Chopra has over 250K unread emails. Let that sink in.

A photograph showing Chopra's 257,623 unread emails on her phone was shared by American actor Alan Powell, who will be seen alongside Chopra in the third season of action-thriller Quantico.

Powell also took to Twitter and wrote, "Guys ... guys ... don't ever email @priyankachopra ... she apparently NEVER reads it! This is is…"

Twitterati took it up as a challenge to beat Chopra's record unread emails.

The results were in Chopra's favour until a user named Piyush Raka shared a screenshot and dethroned Chopra's record with 381,753 unread emails.

The first question that came to our minds as well.

But wait for it. Piyush seemed like a clear winner until one gentleman shared a screenshot of his unread emails. Sree Sreenivasan‏, a social media professor at Columbia, has over 1 million unread emails in his gmail account. Here's proof.

*If you are an iPhone user, you can turn off the unread email number by going into phone's settings and switching off the Badge App Icon for your email account.
