A railway station master was placed under suspension in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district after an outsourced sanitation worker attached a toilet pipeline to the tank containing drinking water, an official said on Sunday. The incident happened on March 1 in Garoth station, which falls under the railway’s Kota division, said Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Ajay Kumar Pal.
“A sanitation worker from a private firm attached a toilet pipeline to the drinking water tank, which was thoroughly cleaned after the error and tested for potability. Stationmaster Chauthmal Meena was placed under suspension and the sanitation worker was removed from duty," Pal informed.

The report comes after the incident went viral on social media. West Central Railways even came up with a statement on March 5, informing that the incident was being investigated.
The shocking news comes amid surging cases of coronavirus in several states including Maharashtra which recently saw a spike in cases of the new variant of Covid-19.
The incident also came to light amid the Kota Mandal tour of the Railways to take stock of passenger facilities. News18 Rajasthan reported that several passengers complained about the careless attitude of the railways and the threat to passenger health such slip-ups caused.
