Rishabh Pant walked out in the middle when India were reeling at 80/4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on day 2 of the fourth Test against England. The young wicket-keeper batsman went on to score a scintillating century, a hundred that he’d remember for a long time. Despite the wickets falling regularly at the other end, Pant stayed cemented and played the only game he knows– attack. Despite the scoreboard once reading 146/6, Pant put up a show that lit up the stadium and set the Internet on fire. In his 101 (118), the batsman smashed 13 boundaries and two maximums, helping India edge past England’s score of 205 and secure a crucial lead over the visitors.
However, amid the brilliance that the cricket fans were subjected to on Friday, Pant outdid himself when he reverse-swept English quickie James Anderson over the slip region. He did so when Anderson was armed with a new ball. Pant was batting at 89 and the incident happened in the 83rd over.
The shot, the daring, and the execution by Pant on an Anderson delivery left Twitterati gasping for air.
