New Delhi: Music surely has its own sensitivity, varying from individual to infidel. You can't put its definition into brackets and so crazy was the twilight. After much loved debut of NH7 Weekender last year, the festival rocked the capital once again. With music acts across all genres, ranging from folk rock to metal to dubstep to electronic, the Weekender pulled out the madness from the youngsters of NCR.
Last year the long route to venue proved out to be a turn off for many but this year the Weekender partnered with transport and lodging companies to give party goers an easy ride.
Music lovers of all age were mesmerised in the tunes and we bring you what all you missed on day one.
The musical diversity, artistry, festival madness, roar, uncontrolled calisthenics and a breath-taking evening - are all these ingredients good enough for a musical festival?
The festival began a little after 3 pm with MoonDogs playing their rock and punk. The Hot Air Balloon trip was a speculation for a bird's eye view of the lights and head bangs in mosh pits in fun-filled ambiance.
The venue was split into six stages; Bacardi Arena which featured the biggest headliners of the festival as well as rock and metal acts, The Dewarists was a soulful place with folk, electric and indie pop tunes, Red Bull Tour Bus brought the emerging artistes and the indie music, MTS Other Stage featured raw acoustic talent and Eristoff Wolves Den and Brezer Dub Station rocked the crowd with live electronica and dance music.
The pop and folk music star Lucky Ali held the audience captive with his soulful voice and strikingly simple ballad-style singing and melodies. In the chilled out vibes of the festival Noori and Faridkot were the other bands which lived up to the spirit of The Dewarists. The metal giants Scribe and Meshuggah made people bang their heads with their guitar riffs.
The MTS other stage featured Prateek Kuhad Collective and Rajasthan Roots.
However, Benga and Soundclash were no less with their electronica and dance music. The two stages, Eristoff Wolves Den and Brezer Dub Station, were set up with larger-than-life decorations, but too close for comfort, leading to an overlapping of sounds.
Along with gleaming art of audio-visual stage, the venue had flea markets, gastronomic delights at food stalls, gaming areas and bar arenas to slake everyone's thirst.
The crowd was all lost, enthralled in the music, with cans in the hand, head on regular bangs, and frenzied actions similar to a jumping jack. With a fringe, the fun-filled music fiesta had spellbinding vibes.
Curtains were put down for Day 1 with Weekender promising a bigger and more crazier night on Day 2.
Mutemath, The Ska Vengers, Kill Paris, Michal Menert, The Manganiyar Seduction by Roysten Abel, Kailasa are all set to for the another spectacular day, the Karsh Kale Collective + The NH7 All Stars, at the Bacardi Arena will create a sensation. And, of course the Ferris wheel rides, and hot air balloon trip will be there.
