A sister is helping her gay brother become a dad by carrying his baby as surrogate. The incident took place in Manchester, where 42-year-old Tracey Hulse extended her help to brother Anthony Deegan, 38, and his fiancé Ray Williams, 30, after their year-long search for a surrogate.
On October 12 last year, the elated couple welcomed their baby Theo into the world. The couple had taken a loan of £36,000 for three rounds of IVF using two anonymous egg donors. While both had donated sperm, they chose not to find out who the biological father is.
Talking to Daily Mail, Anthony told that he and Tracey have been close like best friends and he has walked her down the aisle on her wedding day as their father couldn’t attend the ceremony.
Anthony owns a Subway franchise and Tracey is an area manager. She says she decided to helpthe couple as after a year of searching for a surrogate, the couple was beginning to lose hope. She adds that she had offered twice before and they all laughed it off, but the third time, she told them how serious she was. Her husband told her she might be too old for it, but Tracey claims she felt honored as it meant her brother trusted her enough to carry his baby.
Anthony believed that his baby is in safe hands as Tracey has six children of her own. He says she gave him the greatest gift of life and their bond is now stronger than ever. The couple didn’t pay Tracey as Anthony says, “You can’t put a price on what she has done for us.”
The couple had been looking to find a surrogate through social events hosted by Surrogacy UK but had almost given up after a year.
In Manchester based Care Fertility, they started the IVF process where they both donated their sperm and created two separate batches. After two rounds of IVF failed, they got lucky the third time. Anthony states that the three of them were working as a unit and they always put her first for putting her body through stress for them.
Tracey underwent C-section as baby Theo’s head was stuck. But,she says that from the moment he was born, he has been content with his two dads.
