A donkey has taken the Internet by storm after a video of its speeding like a deer went viral on social media. A video shared on Gear Wrench Australia shows a donkey drawing a cart, with two men seated on it, and is speeding faster than a horse cart. One of the men holds the reins of the animal. The other one holds on for dear life as the animal races against the wind. The speedy video was captured by one of the passersby.
“Forget about horsepower, go DONKEY power!” the Facebook page wrote in the caption. There is no information as to who recorded the clip or where it happened. It has a whopping 2.6 million views and thousands of comments. Though most people doubted the authenticity of the clip. Some, on the other hand, questioned whether it was ethical or even safe.
“People saying donkeys don't run that fast gotta keep in mind we all don't run the same speed. He probably the fastest of their kind,” noted one user, while another joked “When the final bell of school rings before summer holidays…”
“Poor donkey, hope it's alright and they're treating it well,” someone expressed concern for the animal. Many others had similar feelings and wondered if the animal was abused to be trained like this.
However, it is quite debatable whether the animal is a donkey or a miniature horse. Or,as someone else commented on the video, "a hybrid created by mating a female donkey and male horse." The same video was shared on YouTube in 2019 with the caption “High speed horse cart.”
This video is over 6 minutes long, as opposed to the Facebook viral video which is only 40 seconds.
A horse or just a highly skilled donkey?
