A series of explosions rocked Brussels airport and the metro system on Tuesday, leaving at least 34 dead and several others injured, Belgian media said. Two explosions took place in the departures area of Zaventem airport shortly after 8 am local time, one of them near the American Airlines desk. Reports said that an hour later, explosions hit Maalbeek metro station which is close to the European Union institutions.

It is a matter of grief that has been widely expressed by the whole world. People are sharing their grief, anger and defiance on the social media and from that has come out a lot of art. Here are ten examples of cartoons and a comics that express the sadness the entire world feels, when such a terrible thing happens.

A lot of these artworks feature the famous comic book characters "Tintin", "Captain Haddock" and "Snowy" as they were created by Hergé or Georges Prosper Remi, a Belgian cartoonist who was born in Brussels.
