Taking pot-shots at JNU is so easy. So easy in fact that it has gotten exceedingly boring. Just how much of 'Naxalite'. 'Marxist', 'Left', 'Azadi' and a whole plethora of socialist taunts can one really manage to hear before just walking away while yawning. But all that changes thanks to Shefali Vaidya, a writer at the website 'Swarajya'.
While her attempt at making fun of JNU pretty much boiled down to the same material that has been used and reused since the FTII strike last year, it is without a shred of doubt, absolutely ingenious. She wrote a parody of iconic 'The Eagles' number: Hotel California.
Such a leftist place (Such a leftist place)
Such a leftist face
Plenty of sedition at the Hotel JNU
Any time of year (Any time of year)

Shefali's lyrics went viral on Facebook and Swarajya ran an article about it where they asked their readers to sing, record and submit those recordings to them. They also announced a prize of Rs 10,000 for the best entry and two prizes of Rs 5,000 for the next best entries.
The winner came in form of Ayush Sengupta, who turned these lyrics into a nice acoustic melody. Of course the tune was that of the original song. Listen to the song here.
Say what you want about the lyrics, the song does sound pretty amazing.
