Cheteshwar Pujara piled up 193 runs in India's first innings on the last and final Test against Australia to put the visitors in the driver's seat. His gritty knock came in 373 deliveries, which included 22 fours and a lot of determination. He missed his double ton after being dismissed caught & bowled by Nathan Lyon on Day 2 of Sydney Test.

According to statistician Mohandas Menon, India's number 3 batsman Pujara has so far batted for 1702 minutes or 28 hours and 22 minutes in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Test series. And if India comes out to bat again for their second innings, these numbers could change drastically.

While the 30-year-old's hunger to score runs isn't unknown, his defensive batting ensured that he broke a new record on the go, which had been held by Rahul Dravid for the last fifteen years.

Yep, Pujara has now faced 1258* deliveries in the series, the most by an Indian cricketer in a Test series in Australia, surpassing Dravid's 1203 balls in 2003-04 series, Virat Kohli's 1,093 balls in 2014-15 and Sunil Gavaskar's 1,032 balls in 1977-78.

His consistency and composure on the field was met with applause on Twitter and cricketers and fans were ecstatic.

At the time of writing this, Team India has breached the 500 mark and look solid at 536/6. Rishabh Pant, who has been in the news mostly for his friendly banter with Aussie captain Tim Paine, became the first Indian wicketkeeper to slam a Test ton in Australia.
