A sex therapist from America has explained why he believes straight men can have sex with men while remaining completely straight. Dr. Joe Kort, a gay sex therapist, and author insists that without being specifically gay, men can have sex with other men. Kort has taken his practice online to TikTok, where his claims have made him infamous. Despite his theory sparking a massive debate online, the sex expert argues, “It’s not a gay thing, it’s a guy thing.”
In a new video, Kort asserted that not behavior but feelings determine sexual orientation. He claims that it all comes down to what two consenting adults want out of a situation. “In general, men have more transactional sex with one another, in general women don’t. Men have objectified sex where it’s just about the act, it’s just about getting off,” he said in the video. Kort went on to say that straight men are attracted to sex with men, they are not attracted to men. He further mentioned that some of these men could be gay or bisexual.
However, he said that it is something that comes over time. These men can only be in touch with the trajectory to figure that out. “A straight man who has sex with another man is into it as the other guy is into him, so it’s all about him,” claimed Kort.
Of course, many of Kort’s followers had to weigh in on the issue. His ideas caused extreme reactions with opinions being split on the topic. Some people agreed with his explanation, while others outright rejected the notion. An individual said that it is important that people understand that it is the same for women and that if they make out with another, they can be one hundred percent straight. One user of the platform said Kort “should be in jail.” Another person urged that people really need to research as it had been happening from the beginning of time.
According to his website, Kort has a doctorate in clinical sexology from the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists (AACS). The US-based sex therapist is also a licensed clinical social worker. He has worked as a psychotherapist and relationships coach and has written multiple books on sexuality.
His TikTok account has become very popular and has found a new following where the relationships expert has more than 300,000 followers. Kort came out as gay at the age of 14 and participated in a movement to “separate what we do sexually in terms of our identity.” Using his own personal experiences as an example, Kort revealed that he would still be a gay man if he never had sex again.
