This Church in Delhi is Helping the Poor Beat the Heat

The security person who is on duty at main gate been given charge to distributes the food to needy people

In this scorching heat, while the whole of Delhi is busty trying to say hydrated with bel ka sharbat and shikanji, a church in Janakpuri is trying to help the needy deal with the summers. The Mar Gregorios Orthodox Church has opened up a public refrigerator for those who cannot afford to hydrate themselves in this hellish heat.

According to a post by Jiji K Ninan on Facebook, the fridge, donated by a patron of the church, will be kept stocked with food and water to help the poor.

Food vending machine inaugurated by vicar Fr. Biju P Thomas at Janakpuri church on Sunday 24th April. This machine has been donated by a well wisher and aim is to serve Food, Fruits and Water to poor and needy at any time they need. This is a new initiative and the OCYM Janakpuri unit has taken responsibility to run this project smoothly during summer time.

The gate visible in picture is not the main gate and for access to side road only as an emergency. The machine kept behind the lift well in church premises, the security person who is on duty at main gate been given charge to distributes the food to needy people.

This initiative called 'Share N Care' seems to have some of it's inspiration from this Kochi Restaurant that opened a public refrigerator outside their premises.
