New year, new memes - is what the state of the Internet has turned to right now.

From 'Bandersnatch' to Bird Box, the netizens are turning everything they can into a reaction image or things to laugh at. In the middle of all this, comes the Chinese 'four generation' meme which is taking over the Internet for being very wholesome.

The meme consists of four generations of a family appearing on the screen - usually in this order: a child, their parent, their grandparents, their great-grandparents. Unlike just plain reactions, everybody is finding this meme incredibly cute.

When the first person appears on screen, they call their parent (either dad or mom) , who respond and appear in the frame, and then call the next parent. Take a look at some of the top four-generation challenges.

The meme which originally started in China is now spreading to other countries as people pick up on the content.

There's even a compilation on Youtube.

If this is the meme that 2019 starts with, the Internet is beyond happy. Maybe we have a wholesome year of memes ahead.
