We in India give way too much importance to the English language. Sure, it is important that we know the language and it is the international standard in all industries and education. But how we, in India take it up a notch by worshiping everything English. From songs to movies, even if they suck, it's still cool because it's in English.
We also do this thing where we diss the people who don't speak English properly. Those who do speak it properly have a kind of elitism that makes them entitled to mock the ones that don't. It doesn't matter if the other guy is a genius or an idiot, his command over english is all that will matter in us judging him.
