We don't let children vote, or drink or get married or take any decision that has a lot of weight to it. Why? Because they are children. They can't judge and comprehend a lot of things. Their minds don't have the complexity to weigh problems in order to come up with the right decision. We know all this and we understand all this. Then why are we lax about letting them drive?
The Mercedes hit-and-run case that took place in Delhi in April was a classic example of why we must be cautious about who is sitting behind the steering wheel. The 17 year-old's carelessness caused the death of a 32-year-old man. They boy may get severely punished, but it won't bring Siddharth Sharma back to life.
