Dancing in the heavy downpour, she can be spotted with her hands outstretched and a big grin on her face celebrating and welcoming the arrival of rain after weeks of raging wildfires engulfed the forests. It also destroyed large tracts of the Similipal National Park. She can be heard saying, “Give us more rain (Bahut jyada barsha de)," in the clip as she welcomes the outpour with open arms.
Over the course of more than two weeks, the vast tracts of Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district and other wildlife habitats nearby were devastated by a a massive fire. Forest officials and state authorities have been struggling to contain it but the fire was eventually put out after two weeks with the help of rainfall and a hailstorm.
The clip has viewed almost 2 lakh times and gained over 7000 likes and people showered the clip with their prayers and wishes. One of the users wrote how beautiful the video was as it showed her connection with the forest.
What a beautiful video. Shows her connect with the forest. The woke climate activists are not a shadow on the real environmentalists like her.— kolkatatheke (@kolkatatheke) March 10, 2021
Another person applauded Dhal’s efforts and her love for her job.
The joy on her face is palpable. We need such officials in the Forest Department- who love their job and don’t see it as just one more avenue of employment. God may be kind this time. But, we need more Snehas to combat man - induced destruction of forest and wild life— sambit (@Sambit75Sambit) March 10, 2021
