It is almost undeniable that dogs are cute and cosy companions and even friends for humans. But a large number of people get dogs for safety reasons rather than just having a cuddly friend. From farms cattle dogs for chasing away predators to security forces employing dogs to take down assailants — their wolfish ancestry makes them a near-perfect protector. There are many stories online featuring dogs saving people from street muggers to protecting a house from burglars. However, one Siberian Husky in Thailand isn’t that ambitious and chooses sleep and calm over aggression and active duty.
In a video going viral on Facebook, a dog can be seen sleeping through an entire “robbery.” The armed robbery was fake, a part of the dog’s program who is soon to be employed as a security measure at the jewellery store. But it did not go exactly as planned.
The store owner, Worawut Lomwanawong, has been training his dog Lucky for adverse situations. He had hoped that when the “armed men” arrived in the store, threatened him, indulged in violence and so on, Lucky would jump to action and confront the assailants. The “armed” man entered the story holding a replica automatic handgun and pointed it at Lomwanawong. The whole procedure was captured in the store’s CCTV camera in Chiang Ma on February 16.
Lomwanawong glanced at Lucky several times, even whispered at him in order to rouse the peaceful pup. Meanwhile, the man kept “threatening” the store owner and created a commotion. The dog, still lost in dreamy wonderland, paid no heed while the “thief” made away with a bag of money.
He mentioned that his dog probably has “different priorities.”
But don’t worry. The dog, trained for situations like this and failing at it, did not receive any punishment. Lomwanawong maintains he still loves Lucky as much as he did before. “’I named him Lucky because he brings me luck. Maybe that’s his purpose, to make everyone around him happy and not to guard stores,” he said.
