The Islamic Republic said the "vulgar clip had hurt public chastity".

A group of six young Iranian men and women were arrested and forced to repent on national television for dancing to a homemade version of Pharrell Williams' hit song 'Happy,' which the state police said "hurt public chastity". They were also reprimanded for dancing in mixed company which is against the law.

The clip showed the three men and three unveiled women singing and dancing to the tune in the streets and on rooftops in Tehran, the capital, The Telegraph reported. The video was posted on YouTube by user Pooja Jahandar with a description that claimed the young men and women featured in the video received phone calls informing them that a friend had suffered a car accident and required their help. When they arrived at the address they had been given over the phone, security forces were waiting to arrest them.

The Islamic Republic said the "vulgar clip had hurt public chastity", according to the Telegraph, which quoted Hossein Sajedinia, Tehran's police chief, as saying "Following a series of intelligence and police operations and after coordinating with the judiciary, all the suspects were identified and arrested. After a vulgar clip which hurt public chastity was released in cyberspace, police decided to identify those involved in making that clip."
