Nature with its countless bounties keeps sharing its surprises with us from time to time. Thanks to the internet, such wonders reach us much faster and one such latest instance of the same is doing rounds on social media circuits and it is absolutely mesmerising.
A video shared by the Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Sushanta Nanda on Twitter shows golden tortoise beetles crawling on a man’s hands. The Golden Tortoise Beetles, also known as Charidotella sexpunctata, are a beetle species in the leaf beetle family Chrysomelidae.
In the 17-second video clip, the tiny golden hued insects can be seen sitting and then fluttering away. “Sometimes, all that glitters is gold,” Nanda said in the caption of his post. He also gave video credits to Thokchom Sony.

The captivating video shared by the IFS officer has gone viral and became popular on the microblogging site as soon as it went online. Nanda’s short video clip has raked in over 12,000 views with 232 retweets and 1,420 likes so far. Amazed by the video, netizens flocked the comments section to express their thoughts.

Golden tortoise beetles differ in colour which vary from reddish-brown with black spots to mirror-like golden hues. They mostly consume plant foliage such as bindweeds, morning glory and sweet potato, among others. However, they play dead when disturbed.
