NEUFC Interim Head Coach Khalid Jamil After the Game

"Just after conceding the goal, we thought in the dressing room to make the change but I held on for some time. Sylla is also not fully fit.

"We will see tomorrow if Brown is available for the next game. Then we will see who can play the best.

"There is a lot of belief in the hearts of the boys.

"I am thinking about the next team. They have quality individual players but we have to be prepared. But it is about mentality, if we are mentally strong, we will go ahead."

21:49 (IST)

NEUFC's Ashutosh Mehta After the Match

"Deshorn wasn't feeling well this morning and coach had to change the team all of a sudden so they asked me to play right wing. I have played right wing before (for Aizawl FC) so it wasn't tough for me.

"The plan was to play 50-50 but you know, ATKMB are a good team, strong players, good tactics. The most important thing was not to concede because the semis are a completely different ball game."

21:46 (IST)

ATK Mohun Bagan Head Coach Antonio Habas After the Game

"I am happy with the performance today. May be 70 minutes, we were very good. But after that may be a lot of free kicks and fouls. It's the semi-final and we got a draw. I think we deserved to win but it's a draw and I have to prepare my team for the second leg.

"We knew Brown wasn't on the pitch, we didn't have Edu Garcia. Today Sandesh was not fit to play. Next match, I have a lot of confidence in my team and we'll see."

21:43 (IST)

ATK Mohun Bagan's David Williams After the Match

"Very disappointed. We have been disappointed two games in a row. We though we were coming back and it's easy to be negative in these times but we have to stick together and go on.

"Credit to NorthEast as well, they didn't give up. Slight error at the back, I think it was more about tired legs. It wasn't so much out fault but NorthEast did well.

"We've been in a worse position last season and we bounced back. We have to stay calm, focus on the recovery and come back. If we can put the disappointment of last week behind and get to the final, it will be good. We can get the job done with belief in ourselves."

21:40 (IST)

Hero of the Match Gurjinder Kumar After the Game

"We are a team that never gives up as you saw today with the goal coming in so late.

"Happy with my performance but there's another leg left and two days before it, we have to rest and come back in a better way.

"It was a cagey game but we will go back and see their weakness and come prepared for the second leg."

In the two matches between these sides in the league stage, they have a 1-1 record. The first game was won 2-0 by ATK Mohun Bagan with Roy Krishna finding the back of the net and Benjamin Lambot scoring an own goal. This was when Gerard Nus was NEUFC’s coach. The second match between these two took place on January 26 when Khalid Jamil had taken the reigns and the Highlanders won 2-1. Luis Machado had first scored in the 60th minute before Krishna equalised in the 72nd minute. However, NEUFC’s Federico Gallego scored the winner in the 81st minute.

Jamil has remained unbeaten in the nine games, recording six wins and three draws and he will now look to carry on the momentum when his team clashes against ATK Mohun Bagan. “All the players have worked very hard. Because of them, we have reached here. I never think about the nine matches. It’s about right from the first game. The boys have worked hard and I am very proud to be their coach,” Jamil said.

Bagan coach Antonio Habas is winless in three first leg ISL semifinals, losing 2 and drawing 1. For ATK Mohun Bagan, the last three games cost them the League Winners Shield. “NorthEast United have had a good ISL season. It’s a very difficult team because they have good players in defence, central midfield and good players in attack,” said Habas.
