New Delhi: Alberto Aquilani is looking forward to starting his career with Liverpool. The Italian international believes he will repay manager Rafael Benitez for putting "so much" faith in him and win the hearts and minds of the Liverpool faithful.

"Liverpool is a special team. I am proud that the manager has put so much faith in me and I will repay him," Aquilani told Goal.com.

"The people at the club have been very nice to me and I already feel like I have settled in well. The manager has his ideas for me and I want to do well for him and also for my country and help them in the World Cup."

"I am hoping to be here for a long while and I am very happy to be wearing the red shirt of Liverpool. I am here for the long term and it is a great challenge. I am confident I can learn the Liverpool way and win things in the process."

"I want to be able to say that I have played at the best stadiums in the world against the best teams. Anfield looks like a very special place to play football and you always have a good atmosphere. I am excited and cannot wait to start I am happy to be here."

Aquilani could not hide his admiration for Liverpool's two biggest stars. "Although the system of play is different at Liverpool, I have enough motivation in playing with Gerrard and Torres and I will learn from them also so I have a lot to look forward to," he continued.

"I know all about Steven Gerrard, who is one of the best midfielders in the world and Torres is just a great striker who is very dedicated to Liverpool."

Aquilani is adamant he will get over his injury problems sooner rather than later - and his belief is that he will thrive on the physical nature of the Premier League.

"The doctor knows all about my injury and he explained everything and I know I will be OK and the problem will be solved. It is frustrating not being able play. As a player you only want to play at your best but with injury, it can be very frustrating. I want to play very soon and play against the best players in this league," he explained.

"The Premier League is intense and very difficult and it is one of the best leagues in the world with some very famous teams. We are capable of playing against the best teams in this league, and with players like Gerrard playing with you, it already gives you confidence."

"I have seen Premier League teams against Italian teams and the contests are always very good. I hope to bring my experience and help Liverpool for many years."
