Chris Dagnall scored twice while Antonio German and Cavin Lobo scored one goal each as Kerala registered as comprehensive win against NorthEast United in Match 38 of Indian Super League season 2.

ISL 2015, Match 38: Chris Dagnall scores twice as Kerala Blasters FC thrash NorthEast United FC 4-0.

GOAL! NorthEast United finally score one. Kerala Blasters 4-1 NEUFC.

Three minutes added before full time.

GOAL! Chris Dagnall scores another one. Kerala Blasters FC 4-0 NorthEast United FC.

Antonio German scores to make it 3-0 for Kerala Blasters against NorthEast United

70 mins: Robin has been replaced by Yumnam Raju at left back.

60 mins: Chris Dagnall swings a cross in from the right flank. The keeper comes out to collect it but fails to punch the ball but misses it clearly. Josu was stationed on the left and he tried a shot from a tight angle which Rehenesh managed to block. The NorthEast United FC custodian does well to make amends to the mistake that lead to that opportunity.

50 mins: The second half has kicked off and it looks like Cesar Farias has something up his sleeves already. He has made a change in the interval as Siam Hanghal replaces Alen.

The second half kicks off. Kerala Blasters leading 2-0 against NorthEast United FC.

Goals from Chris Dagnall and Cavin Lobo give Kerala Blasters 2-0 lead against NorthEast United FC at half-time.

41 mins: Josu sees a chance for himself from the right flank as the ball is on his favoured left foot. He fires a ferocious shot straight at Rehenesh who fails to keep the ball in his hands. However, the fumble did not prove to be too costly as there was no Kerala player around him. The keeper managed to get up and pick up the loose ball comfortably.

32 mins: NorthEast United FC have a break on but fail to capitalise on the counter. The ball is played to the right flank from where Sanju tries to put in a cross. However, it is a poor one and the Kerala Blasters FC defenders manage to clear the danger once again.

GOAL! Cavin Lobo doubles Kerala Blasters lead in the 21st minute.

19 mins: Simao lobs the ball into a crowded penalty area with a free kick from the right. Cedric Hengbart rises the highest amongst all the bodies in the box to win the header. From that point blank range it looked like that would have been the equaliser but Stephen Bywater was at hand to make an astonishing save. The ball rebounded back to Hengbart but he was on the ground and could not get into the right position to keep his second attempt on target. Kerala Blasters FC survive!

16 mins: A poor touch by Nicolas Velez means that he could not make use of the space on the left flank. He was all by himself there but his first touch failed him on that occasion. It could have been dangerous for the Blasters if he had managed to keep control of the ball.

11 mins: Kerala Blasters FC were looking dangerous in the attacking third by passing the ball around. They are making it hard for the NorthEast United FC players to win back possession. However, Rahul Bheke makes the job easy for the opposition by playing a poor pass which goes straight to Simao.

Antonio German created the opportunity with a superb run from the left flank and squared the ball brilliantly for the onrushing Chris Dagnall. The Englishman made no mistake from the 6-yard box as he tapped the ball past the hapless Rehenesh.

GOAL! Chris Dagnall scores in the very first minute to give Kerala Blasters FC 1-0 lead against NorthEast United FC.

Its kick-off time.

Starting XIs

Kerala Blasters FC:

Stephen Bywater (GK), Rahul Bheke, Sandesh Jhingan, Peter Ramage (C), Saumik, Cavin Lobo, Pulga, Mehtab Hossain, Josu, Antonio German, Chris Dagnall.

NorthEast United:

Rehenesh (GK), Aibor Khongjee, Cedric Hengbart (C), Carlos Lopez, Robin, Andre Bikey, Silas, Sanju, Simao, Alen, Nicolas Velez.

6:30pm: It is going to be an interesting battle between two players who have been very good in the air. Rafi has been brilliant for his team in winning headers in the final third. He faces a stern test tonight against Andre Bikey, the defender has been exceptional for his team at the back. So, who will win this duel?

6:25pm: The Kerala Blasters had a dream run in the second half of ISL season 1 to sneak into the top 4. Last year’s finalists will have to do something similar in the second half of this season, if they are to have any chance of contesting in the semi-finals. Having won only 2 games out of their 10 away matches, The Blasters have a rough road ahead as they have to play 4 out of their final 5 matches away from home.

NorthEast United FC are ready to face Kerala Blasters, the team who they played in their Indian Super League opener and lost 1-3, and would want to have their revenge on Sunday.

The Highlanders are proving their doubters wrong with a string of good performances. They are unbeaten in their last three matches having won two and drawn one.

On the other hand, Kerala Blasters FC have failed to emulate the performances of last season which took them to the finals. On paper, they have no real big names which is why they looked weak before the season began.
