Mercedes dominate opening F1 practice at Australian Grand Prix
Rosberg set the best time of 1 minute, 29. 557 seconds at the Albert Park circuit, just three hundredths of a second ahead of team-mate Hamilton.

Mercedes drivers lived up to expectations by setting the fastest times in Friday's opening practice session at the Australian Grand Prix.

Nico Rosberg set the best time of 1 minute, 29. 557 seconds at the Albert Park circuit, just three hundredths of a second ahead of team-mate and reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton, as Mercedes picked up the new Formula One season from where they left off in a dominant 2014.

They were more than a second clear of the next fastest driver, Valtteri Botta of Williams.

Toro Rosso rookies Carlos Sainz Jr. and 17-year-old Max Verstappen were fourth- and sixth-fastest respectively, separated by Sebastian Vettel, making his first official outing for Ferrari.

After Verstappen were Williams' Felipe Massa, Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, Lotus' Pastor Maldonado and local favorite Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull.
