The CEO said the State Election Commission has requisitioned 457 companies (each company comprising around 100 personnel) of central forces.

Visakhapatnam: Ten lakh new voters have been enrolled for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections which will be held simultaneously in two phases in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal said on Saturday.

"The main objective of the EC is to conduct polls in a peaceful manner. Ten lakh new voters have enrolled themselves for elections to be held on April 30 and May 7," Lal told reporters after a review meeting with district officials in Visakhapatnam.

The CEO said the State Election Commission has requisitioned 457 companies (each company comprising around 100 personnel) of central forces.

"Besides, paramilitary personnel and local police will be there for election duty," he said.

Lal said seven helicopters would be used for conducting the electoral process in Naxal-hit areas.

"While two helicopters would be utilised in Visakhapatnam district, one each will be utilised in Khammam, Warangal, Adilabad and Nallamala forest area in Prakasam district and in Rayalaseema region," he said.
