16 Missing After Boat Capsizes in Damodar River in Jharkhand, Rescue Operation on by NDRF

The boat capsized near Virbediya bridge at Jamtara at around 7 pm, Deputy Commissioner Faiz Ahmed Mumtaz said.

Search for 16 people is ongoing, who went missing after a boat capsized in the Damodar river in Jharkhand’s Jamtara district on Thursday. According to the media reports, four people have been rescued till now, however, the remaining 16 are still missing and the rescue operation is currently on by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

The boat had capsized due to a storm on Thursday, in Jharkhand. The incident happened at around 7 pm when the boat was near Virbediya bridge at Jamtara, Deputy Commissioner Faiz Ahmed Mumtaz said. Around 20 persons on board the boat were going to Jamtara from Nirsa, Dhanbad.

Soon after the news broke out about the boat, NDRF rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation. meanwhile, the four people who have been rescued have been sent to the hospital.
