Kolkata: A four-year-old girl student of Kolkata's GD Birla School was allegedly sexually abused by a teacher inside the toilet.
The incident comes weeks after a student was found murdered inside Ryan International School in Gurugram raising questions about the safety of students inside school premises.
Police said the incident took place on Thursday. The girl told her mother about the assault and the parents rushed to school.
The school authorities promised to take action.
On Friday, the situation became tense after a large number of parents gathered in front of the school and raised slogans against the authorities.
The parents also alleged that the authorities are paying no attention to their complaint which prompted the local police to rush to the spot the control the situation.
Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the teachers allegedly lured the 4-year-old girl to the toilet and 'physically abused her'.
Speaking to News18, the victim's father, said, "This is for the second time such incident happened in GD Birla School in Ranikuti. In 2014, a girl student was sexually assaulted and the school authorities didn't take any action. Me and my wife are in a state of shock. My daughter is also very traumatized. She identified one the school teachers and hope we will get justice. I will never send my daughter to school."
The state government has formed a medical team. Preliminary medical tests have confirmed that she was sexually abused.
The suspect was taken to the police station for examination.
