62-year-old man thrashed for filing RTI in J&K

The 62-year-old man had filed an RTI application to get details of the distribution of relief material for migrants in Budgam.

In a shocking incident, an elderly man has allegedly been thrashed for filing a Right To Information (RTI) application in Budgam area of Jammu and Kashmir.

The 62-year-old man had filed an RTI application to get details of the distribution of relief material for migrants in Budgam.

When the man tried to expose malpractices in relief distribution, he was allegedly attacked by a village official and his aides. Not only was he beaten up, but also thrown into a canal by the accused men.

“They filed a case against me when I got out some information. The police also arrested me on this and put me behind bars and asked me to stop pursuing things against such people,” he said.
