7-yr-old ready for Class X exam

By appearing for the Class X exam, Sushma Verma will be the youngest to clear the All India Board Examination.

New Delhi: As lakhs of 14-16 year-old Indian students get ready for their Class X board examination due in the month of March, a seven-year-old girl joins the brigade.

By appearing for the Class X exam, Sushma Verma will be up for the spot of becoming the youngest to clear the All India Board Examination scheduled to commence on March 12.

Sushma, a student of St Meera's Inter College in Lucknow scored 61.5 per cent marks in Class IX and was given admission to Class X after the approval of secretary, Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education.

Incidentally, Sushma had never been to school before class IX and was pursuing her studies at home.


Daughter of a daily labourer Tej Bahadur and housewife Chhaya, Sushma's teachers are confident of her doing well in the upcoming examination.

Currently, Tathagar Avtar Tulsi from Patna, holds the record for being the youngest to clear Class X examination at the age of nine in the mid-1990s.
