Hyderabad: The Telangana Excise department has arrested seven people in connection with a drug racket busted two days ago where Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) and methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), commonly known as 'ecstasy', worth Rs 21 lakh was seized.

The high-profile list of clients using these drugs also includes Class 8 and 9 students promoting the excise department to write to 20 schools and 16 colleges in Hyderabad. In the letters, the department has appealed to school and college authorities to sensitise students against substance abuse.

“We request you to watch out for erratic behavior among students and monitor shops and areas in the vicinity of the school premises. The school may take up this issue as a campaign and sensitise them," Akun Sabarwal, Excise Department Director, said in the letter.

The excise department is also appealing to parents to monitor the cash and card transactions made by their children.
