Car rally to put pressure on Govt: Kiran Bedi

A car rally has been flagged off in Delhi and similar events are planned in many other cities.

New Delhi: Team Anna member Kiran Bedi on Sunday said that the car and bike rally is being held across the country to continue the pressure on the government on Lokpal.

"They have gone back on whatever the Prime Minister and Parliament had promised, Keeping the CBI under their control they have shown that they are not serious about tackling corruption. It's a useless Lokpal. It seems whatever Anna fasted for has been wasted, Kiran Bedi said.

Team Anna is holding a rally in the capital on Sunday as part of efforts to put more pressure on the government to bring the lower bureaucracy under the Lokpal.

A car rally has been flagged off in Delhi and similar events are planned in many other cities across the country as well.

Team Anna has sought permission from Delhi Police for a fast by Hazare from December 27 to January 5 at the Ramlila Maidan if the bill is not passed in the ongoing Parliament session.

Earlier, Anna Hazare on Saturday said he will sit on an indefinite fast in jail if police does not give permission for his proposed protest at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan later this month for a strong Lokpal.

"I will sit on a fast in jail. Who can stop me from going on a fast in jail? Nobody can stop in jail," he told reporters when asked what he will do if police denies permission for holding his fast from December 27 if a strong Lokpal Bill is not passed in the winter session of Parliament.
