In a joint operation, the Army and the police foiled an attempt by Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) terrorists to destroy a railway track in Kokrajhar district of Assam late on Thursday night. Based on specific intelligence, the Army and Assam Police launched the operation in village Rabha Para on Thursday.

A group of KLO terrorists were trying to plant an IED on a railway track. The terrorists opened fire forcing the team to retaliate injuring one terrorist, who later died in the hospital.

The terrorists were planning to blow up the railway track to disrupt Independence Day celebrations.
A 7.65 mm pistol, a pistol magazine, some fired cases and live rounds, two hand grenades, one 7 kg IED with detonator and other war like stores were recovered from the spot.

Earlier in July, too, the Army and Assam Police had arrested a suspected KLO terrorist in a joint operation from Jaldoba in Kokrajhar district. One 9-mm pistol, two hand grenades and some live rounds were recovered from the arrested terrorist.
