Lucknow: The Ayodhya district administration is on its toes to maintain peace in the district on December 6: the very day the Babri Mosque was demolished by the Kar Sewaks in 1992.

The administration has denied permission to any kind of congregation in district on the day in order to avoid any disturbance to communal harmony. The Muslims commemorates the day as Black Day while many right-wing groups celebrate the day as Shaurya Diwas.

Ayodhya has literally turned into fortress with extra forces, including PAC and RAF, having been deployed. A total of six companies of PAC, two companies of RAF along with four Additional SP rank officers, 10 Deputy SP rank, 10 Inspectors, 150 Sub Inspectors with 500 constables have been posted. Section 144 has also been imposed in Ayodhya.

The All India Akhada Parishad, which had announced a two-day programme of Naga Sadhus in Ayodhya from December 6, has been denied permission by the authorities to organise any program. A large number of Naga Sadhus were also expected to reach Ayodhya on Wednesday for the Akhada Parishad event.

Also, activists who have been threatening agitation around December 6 have been detained. Mahant Paramhans Das, who had earlier started a fast until death for the construction of Ram Temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya, was detained by the administration as he had announced self-immolation ahead of the 26 anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition and had demanded an immediate ordinance for paving the way for construction of Ram Mandir.

Speaking to media, District Magistrate, Ayodhya, Anil Kumsar said, “We are taking all the required steps to ensure peace and harmony in and around Ayodhya. No one will be allowed to create communal disharmony at any cost in Ayodhya,”

Just recently, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray made his first visit to Ayodhya and asked the BJP to shake of the “Kumbhakarn like slumber” and declare a date for the Ram temple construction.

Putting up a show of strength in Ayodhya ahead of the 26th anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad-led Dharma Sabha on asked Muslims to give up their claim to the disputed land and appealed to the BJP government to expedite the process for construction of a Ram temple.

The venue, which witnessed saffron hue all the way with flags, banners, buntings and head gear in the same colour, also saw the participants taking a pledge for construction of Ram temple, vowing by taking the soil of Ayodhya in their hands.
