Bengaluru Municipal Corporation Bans Plastic Bottles in its Premises

It has now proposed to install RO-UV water purifiers and glass or steel bottles in the office to provide drinking water

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has banned the single-usage plastic water bottles in its premises.

"Measures are to be taken to implement the ban of single-usage plastic water bottles in BBMP officers meetings, public events and BBMP central and regional offices," reads the order signed by BBMP commissioner Manjunath Prasad.

To replace the plastic bottles, the BBMP will install RO-UV water purifiers and make available steel or glass water bottles and tumblers to provide drinking, the order states.
