As the start of annual pilgrimage for Haj draws closer, the state government on Thursday reviewed arrangements for the 6,667 pilgrims from Bihar who will be going to Mecca in Saudi Arabia this year.

Presiding over the review meeting about preparations for the Haj pilgrimage, the Minority Welfare Affair Minister Naushad Alam directed officials of various departments to complete preparations for the visit of 6,667 people from Bihar to Mecca (Saudi Arabia) later this month, the release said.

The Principal Secretary (Minority Welfare) Amir Subhani also spoke on the occasion and said that the Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will himself preside over a review meeting to be held at Gaya district collectorate on August 11 for arrangements for visit of the Haj pilgrims from Bihar.

Manjhi will participate in a prayer meet at the Patna Haj Bhawan office with the visiting pilgrims on August 26 and flag off their flights to Saudi Arabia from Gaya airport the next day, he said.

Subhani directed officials of various departments and agencies to complete all arrangements for the Haj pilgrimage, including security, hospitality and transportation of the pilgrims prior to their scheduled departure for Saudi Arabia.
