Lucknow: A 26-year-old man was allegedly shot at two men after he resisted their attempts to molest his female friend at the East End Mall in Vibhuti Khand of Gomti Nagar area in Lucknow.

Ankit Singh was shot in his thigh and is undergoing treatment at King George Medical University Trauma Centre.

He had gone to a bar, ‘Situation’, at the mall where the two men tried to misbehave with Ankit’s friend, police said.

The two accused were drunk and entered into a scuffle brawl with Ankit after he objected to their behaviour. “A verbal spat ensued and they started beating me. When my friend intervened, they tried to molest her,” he told the police in his complaint.

When Ankit and the woman decided to leave the place, the two men followed them outside the mall and started thrashing Ankit and misbehaved with the woman again. Soon after, they fired at Ankit and fled.

Ankit informed his uncle, BJP leader Bajrangi Singh, who rushed to the spot and took Ankit to KGMU Trauma Centre, the cops said.

Speaking to reporters, circle officer AC Srivastava said, “An FIR has been registered in this case and the culprits will be nabbed soon as the accused made their payment at the bar using a card. Statements of those who were present at the spot have also been recorded. Police teams have been formed to nab the culprits.”
