New Delhi: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning to hold a nationwide Tiranga yatra, beginning August 15, 2017, to commemorate 75 years of Quit India Movement against the British Government.

These Yatras will be held for a fortnight across the country, resolving to develop India in every field over the next five years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed BJP MPs from Gujarat, Daman and Deu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Andaman and Nicobar Island about the nationwide yatra.

In this informal interaction over breakfast with PM Modi on Wednesday morning, party president Amit Shah, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and BJP Leader L K Advani were also present.

The August Kranti or the Quit India Movement was launched by Mahatma Gandhi on August 8, 1942.

It was seen as the last assault on the British imperialism in India, leading to country's Independence five years later.
